Details of Disappearance:
Lisa and her baby daughter, Tiffany, disappeared in 1985. Lisa’s troubled marriage had led her and Tiffany to a women’s shelter in Kansas City. There, she met a man named John Robinson, who called himself “John Osborne.”

Robinson convinced Lisa to join his “Kansas City Outreach Program,” promising free housing and help getting her GED. He paid for a motel room for them, and Lisa’s sister-in-law became suspicious.

On January 10th, 1985, Robinson picked up Lisa and Tiffany. Lisa left behind her car and belongings. She then made a frantic phone call to her mother-in-law, saying someone was trying to take Tiffany and wanted her to sign blank papers. This was the last time anyone heard from Lisa.

Investigators discovered Robinson owned a company called Equi II, which paid for Lisa’s motel room. He had a criminal history and had been acting suspiciously at a local hospital, seeming particularly interested in placing healthy white babies. This led investigators to suspect that Robinson ran an illegal baby-selling ring.

Robinson gave conflicting stories to police, and forged letters appeared, supposedly from Lisa, trying to make it look like she left willingly. These were similar to letters received by another missing woman, Paula Godfrey, who also had connections to Robinson.

Eventually, Robinson was convicted of fraud and theft. Later, after more women went missing, authorities searched a storage unit linked to him and found the remains of several victims. Robinson’s wife testified that he had brought home a dirty baby girl in January 1985, and later gave the baby to his brother and sister-in-law. DNA testing confirmed this baby was Tiffany.

Robinson was convicted of murdering several women, including Lisa, though Lisa’s body has never been found. He was sentenced to life in prison for Lisa’s murder and possibly responsible for other disappearances, such as Catherine Clampitt. Tiffany, raised as Heather Robinson, was unaware of her origins until the investigation.
