- On October 25, 1999, during Hurricane Irene, Smaw disappeared from Washington, North Carolina. He left home with a woman that night and was never seen again. There are rumors he was killed and buried near Interstate 95, but this hasn’t been proven. Smaw had a record of minor crimes, mostly theft. His disappearance is a mystery and remains unsolved.
