- Details of Disappearance:
- On May 20, 2003, David Golub vanished. He was last seen in Kansas after finishing work. He was supposed to pick up his son but never showed up. His truck was found abandoned a couple of days later.
Police suspected foul play, especially after Golub’s ex-girlfriend, Shannon Floyd, and her husband, Chad, were arrested. They were charged with murder. There was bad blood between Shannon and David, mainly over their son and custody issues. Chad, from a wealthy family, even reportedly wanted to pay David to give up the custody fight.
Evidence against the Floyds included Golub’s blood found on their porch and their purchase of a gun the day he disappeared. However, their lawyers argued there wasn’t enough proof he was dead, suggesting suicide or that his involvement in a drug case could explain his disappearance.
Two trials ended in hung juries (the jury couldn’t agree). Eventually, all charges were dropped, but the case could be reopened if new evidence emerges. David’s body was never found.
