Details of Disappearance:
Santana disappeared on February 11, 2003, after being dropped off at a friend’s house in Nyack, New York, by another friend, Rene Rivera. Santana lived in nearby Haverstraw and had three children.

Police searched the Nyack house and found drugs, weapons, and ammunition. Rene’s girlfriend, Amanda Stanley, who also lived there, was arrested, although it’s unclear if she’s a suspect in Santana’s disappearance. Because of the drugs and weapons found, police suspected Santana’s death was not accidental.

Rene and his brother, Ricardo, were later charged with Santana’s murder. Police believe a drug deal went wrong. Rene was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Ricardo pleaded guilty to manslaughter but refused to reveal where Santana’s body was, claiming it had been burned. He received a 15-year sentence (in addition to time he was already serving for other crimes).

Santana’s body has never been found, but police in Orangetown and Haverstraw believe he was murdered.
