- Nina disappeared in Oakland, California in September 2006. Her husband, Hans, was arrested for her murder a month later. His trial was big news and lasted six months in 2007. He said he was innocent and that Nina had gone back to Russia. He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Later, he offered to tell police where Nina’s body was in exchange for a shorter sentence. They agreed, and he led them to her body, buried in the Oakland Hills. He admitted to killing her during a fight.
