- On April 10, 1996, Colonel Smith disappeared. He was last seen at his home in the Oakland Park neighborhood of Columbus, Georgia, around 9:00 a.m. He told his wife he was just going to the backyard to plant flowers and would be right back. He never returned. His wallet was left on the kitchen table. He and his wife were healthy and were about to go on a cruise. The police still don’t know what happened to him.
