- Details of Disappearance:
- Richard Munson disappeared in February 1984. He was last seen leaving his home in Catonsville, Maryland, on February 13th, heading to his job teaching industrial arts. He never arrived at school.
Two days later, his car was found nearby, his belongings inside, but he was gone. Two weeks after his disappearance, police found a stolen car in a park. Inside were his video store receipts, a bullet casing, and some blood. The blood type was O-positive, but we don’t know Munson’s blood type, so it couldn’t be confirmed as his.
Police think Munson was killed because he was going to testify against a car thief, Dennis Watson, on February 16th. Munson had unknowingly bought a stolen car from Watson the year before. Watson was convicted of auto theft but always claimed he didn’t kill Munson. Interestingly, someone who was supposed to testify against Watson in a completely different case (an armed robbery) was murdered in 1973.
Munson was a well-liked teacher who enjoyed fixing old cars and visiting family. He was declared legally dead in 1985, but his disappearance remains a mystery, and no one has ever been charged with his murder.
