- On October 1st, 2016, a man named Fundament disappeared from Newport Beach, California. Early that morning, he emailed a long suicide note to his wife, expressing his love and wanting their sons to inherit his belongings. His wife later found his will, leaving everything to the sons. He left his car, keys, wallet, and phone at home, but a gun was missing.
Police searched a nearby nature reserve, thinking he might have died there, but found nothing. Before his disappearance, Fundament had faced tough times: his business failed, his wife filed for divorce, and he was seeing a therapist for depression and suicidal thoughts. His family history also included suicide; his father died by suicide and his mother attempted it. Fundament was a successful engineer who loved the outdoors.
Even though his body was never found, it’s believed he died by suicide.
