Details of Disappearance:
On April 18, 1998, Mebruer went to a video store near her home in Zachary, Louisiana. That evening, she and her son returned home. But Mebruer disappeared.

The next morning, her son told a neighbor his mother was gone. When neighbors went to check on her, they found blood in her house, showing a struggle and a crime had happened. There was also a blood-stained pink plastic bag in her carport. Police think she was killed in her home and her body taken away.

Her ex-husband was a suspect, but he was cleared. Then, in 2004, DNA evidence linked the case to Derrick Todd Lee, a suspected serial killer known as the “Baton Rouge Serial Killer.” Lee is suspected of killing several other women in southern Louisiana. While he’s been charged with other murders, rapes, and attempted murders, Mebruer’s body has never been found, and the police are still looking for it.
