- Details of Disappearance:
- On December 12, 2009, two men, Alicea and Edwin Pritchard, left Miami, Florida, in their boat headed for Bimini in the Bahamas (about 50 miles away). Their boat was a white Key Largo with a blue-green stripe, one motor, and a special type of hull.
They’d made the trip before, but this time, there was a strong storm warning with very rough seas and high winds (32-63 mph). It’s not known if they knew about the warning.
They disappeared. The Coast Guard searched a huge area (47,000 miles) for six days, but found nothing. Later, some parts of a boat matching their description were found on a deserted island in the Bahamas, but no sign of the men. They are believed to have died at sea.
