Details of Disappearance:
On June 29, 1973, Rita, a junior in high school, left her home in West Linn, Oregon, for a walk. She was last seen around 8:30 pm walking uphill on Sunset Avenue. She disappeared and was never seen or heard from again.

Police suspect foul play. Ted Bundy, a serial killer executed in 1989, is considered a possible suspect in Rita’s disappearance. While Bundy confessed to many murders, mostly in the Pacific Northwest, he never admitted to killing Rita. He was convicted of killing three women in Florida, but many other unsolved disappearances of young women are linked to him, including Rita’s. Because Rita’s body was never found and Bundy never confessed, her case remains unsolved.
