- A man named Brown vanished from New Paltz, New York on August 8, 2008. He lived in Poughkeepsie at the time. Twelve years later, in July 2020, his car was discovered in the Hudson River near Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie. Police divers found it during a training exercise; it was fairly close to the shore (about 75 feet) in 24 feet of water. Bones were found inside the car, and police believe they are Brown’s. They are still trying to figure out what happened.
