- Darnell disappeared in Miami, Florida sometime in 1983. She grew up in Maryland and had a habit of disappearing for long periods without telling anyone. While in Florida, she’d occasionally call her mother, but these calls were infrequent and unpredictable. Her mom didn’t know where she lived or her phone number.
In early 1983, Darnell called from Los Angeles, needing money to return home, but her mom refused, fearing she’d use it on drugs. Two weeks later, Darnell said she was back in Florida. She visited her mom in Maryland briefly before going back to Florida. Her last call to her mom was around May 1983.
That was the last time anyone heard from Darnell. Her last known job was at a fast-food restaurant in Miami. After she vanished, her friends contacted her mother, saying they had Darnell’s belongings and hadn’t heard from her either.
