- Details of Disappearance:
- In 1999, Palumbo moved from Tucson, Arizona to Reno, Nevada to live with her grandmother. She worked at a pawn shop but struggled with meth addiction. Her job didn’t pay enough to support her habit, so police think she may have become a prostitute.
On April 25, 2000, she called her mom, sounding paranoid and saying she was being followed and spied on. She talked about moving back to Arizona for a fresh start.
The next day, April 26th, an airport officer found her in a restricted area. She claimed her sister ran onto the runway, but the officer thought she was hallucinating and dropped her off at the Reno Hilton. That’s the last time anyone saw her.
Her car was abandoned at the airport the following day, with most of her belongings inside, including $600 in cash. Strangely, she’d sent emails to the White House claiming the government was trying to kill her. There was also a drawing in her car of a woman tied up, and two books about changing identities.
Eight months later, someone who looked like her was seen at a casino in Elko, Nevada. She seemed scared and left with another woman. Police aren’t sure if it was actually her.
Because of the strange circumstances and her disappearance, police suspect foul play was involved in Palumbo’s case.
