- Details of Disappearance:
- On August 28, 1991, Breaux disappeared from Houma, Louisiana. He was last seen after 10 pm near Bernard Street after attending an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting (he was the secretary). He bought milk at a store afterwards – this was the last confirmed sighting.
Two days later, his car (a silver 1988 Ford Tempo) was found abandoned across the street, locked. His wallet, checkbooks (personal and for AA), and $165 in AA money were inside, but his car keys and the milk were gone. The car was almost out of gas, even though he’d filled up earlier.
A witness who knew Breaux saw him that same day, looking disheveled and nervous, possibly with three men in a red car. Another witness reported a similar sighting.
Breaux worked at a clothing store for over 30 years. He’d had a drinking problem in the past but hadn’t drunk in 8 years before he disappeared. His family, including his ex-wife and daughters, were close to him and accepted that he was gay. They believe he was abducted, maybe while helping someone.
Despite being declared legally dead in 1998, his disappearance remains a mystery.
