- In August 2001, two brothers, Adam and Jason, disappeared. Their mom, Nermeen, who didn’t have custody of them, took them while they were visiting her and their grandmother in New York. Nermeen is wanted for kidnapping.
Nermeen (who might also use the name Afaf Khalifa) is a Caucasian woman, about 5’7″ tall and 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. She was 32 at the time of the kidnapping. Her mother also helped her. The grandmother was later found guilty and went to prison.
The boys’ dad had full custody because Nermeen had a drinking problem and had hurt the boys. He thinks she took them to Egypt because her father wanted grandsons. The US embassy has checked on Adam and Jason in Cairo, Egypt; they’re alive and healthy.
Even though the grandmother is in jail, Nermeen and the boys are still missing. Because of Nermeen’s history, the boys are considered to be in danger. The police haven’t been able to find them.
