Details of Disappearance:
Agnes disappeared from Long Branch, Pennsylvania, around 1986. Someone reported her missing in October 1986, but not her husband, Edward. Even though she was missing, her disability checks were cashed every month until 2001.

In 2001, Edward applied for his own disability benefits. When the Social Security Administration (SSA) wanted to meet with both of them, Edward came alone. He claimed Agnes went to New York City with friends in early September 2001 and never returned, suggesting she might have died in the September 11th attacks.

The SSA found his story suspicious and stopped Agnes’s payments. Edward couldn’t name the friends or describe their car. The bank confirmed they never saw Agnes cash the checks, and Edward denied doing it.

Agnes’s family hadn’t seen her since around 1985-1986. Edward told them she was in a mental hospital, first in Pittsburgh, then New York after a fire. Police searched hospitals but found no records. They searched Edward’s home twice, looking for Agnes’s body. Before a third search, Edward committed suicide.

Agnes’s disappearance remains a mystery.
