- A woman named Williams disappeared in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was last seen near 1700 South and West Temple Street in late 2001 or early 2002, leaving her belongings with family and saying she’d be back. She never returned.
Williams had a history of drug use and minor crimes, sometimes disappearing for short periods, but this was unlike her. She left behind a young son.
Police initially thought she vanished in March 2002, but later learned it could have been as early as November 2001. The case was reopened in 2014 after new information came to light, and police now believe she was murdered. Searches were conducted, including in the Jordan River.
One man, Ricky Vincent, was briefly charged with obstructing justice in the case, but the charges were dropped. His brother, Michael Vincent, was later identified as the prime suspect after Michael’s death in 2021. Michael knew Williams through his ex-wife, who was Williams’s friend. Michael also had a criminal record. Michael’s daughter said she saw him covered in blood on the day Williams disappeared, and he confessed to killing a Black woman, claiming he cut off her fingertips. Despite this confession, Michael was never charged with Williams’s murder.
Williams’s disappearance remains an unsolved mystery, but police strongly suspect foul play.
