- On December 11, 1992, a college student named Dillard disappeared. He was last seen leaving a bar called Johnny’s Tavern in North Lawrence, Kansas, around midnight. Dillard, a smart and responsible senior at the University of Kansas, had been celebrating with friends.
Nobody knows what happened to him. One idea is that he drowned in the Kansas River, since he’d bragged about swimming across it before. A footprint like his was found nearby, but it faced away from the river, so that’s not certain. Some people said they saw him hitchhiking that night, but no one can confirm it.
His family says he was the type of person who would never just vanish without telling anyone. He was in the ROTC and about to graduate. He lived in Wichita when he wasn’t at school. Despite investigations, his disappearance remains a mystery.
