Details of Disappearance:
Six-year-old Alexis lived in Milwaukee with her mom, Ayanna, and stepfather, LaRon. On May 3, 2002, LaRon walked Alexis to her first-grade school, just a block from home. He said he saw her go to the playground, then went home. Alexis never showed up for class that day.

While some classmates said they saw her crying on the playground, she disappeared without a trace. Her parents weren’t notified until school ended. They initially thought she’d skipped school after an argument with her mom about homework.

Police searched the area, including a nearby park, but found nothing. The case quickly became a criminal investigation because Alexis had no history of running away.

A red truck, seen parked near the school for days before Alexis vanished, disappeared after she did. Police aren’t sure if it’s connected to her disappearance.

Alexis’s father, Kenya, was in jail at the time, but he cooperated with the investigation as did Ayanna and LaRon. While LaRon had a criminal record and failed a lie detector test, police didn’t initially connect him to Alexis’s disappearance. However, LaRon was later charged with a domestic violence offense against Ayanna. These charges were later dropped, but Ayanna described him as abusive. LaRon died in 2021.

Police suspect foul play, but Alexis’s disappearance remains a mystery.
