Details of Disappearance:
Matlock disappeared from his cabin on Brownes Mountain near Spokane, Washington, sometime in the spring of 1951. His family didn’t report him missing until Thanksgiving that year when he didn’t show up. His mother found his cabin empty. They initially heard he’d moved to Alaska, but when he didn’t contact them, they feared something bad happened.

A rumor says Matlock was having an affair, and the husband shot him during an argument. This is just a rumor, and hasn’t been proven. Matlock was an Army veteran. Police suspect foul play, but the case is still unsolved.
