Details of Disappearance:
On December 26, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, 4-year-old Amber was left alone for a few minutes in a pickup truck outside a grocery store. Her mother’s boyfriend, Britt Monroe, said he briefly went inside. When he returned, Amber was gone. She’s never been found.

Police initially suspected Monroe, charging him with murder three weeks later. There was evidence Amber had been abused, with bruises seen by several people. Her mother gave conflicting statements to police about Amber’s condition the night before. A witness also claimed to have heard Amber’s voice on the phone with Monroe that morning. However, the charges against Monroe were dropped due to lack of evidence, though police remained suspicious of him.

Years later, in 2007, David Elliot Penton became a person of interest. Penton is a convicted murderer serving time in Ohio. He confessed to killing three girls in Texas and was also convicted of killing his own infant son. Penton’s cellmates claimed he confessed to being involved in Amber’s disappearance, along with the disappearances of other young girls. Despite these claims, Penton has never been charged in connection with any of these cases.

Amber’s case, along with the other disappearances, remains unsolved.
