- Details of Disappearance:
- Maria Lopez was last seen in King City, California on November 30th, 2003, after leaving her job at a Subway restaurant. Although she’d moved out of her family’s home in September, she stayed in touch with them. Her family didn’t report her missing until December 31st.
Police think she was murdered in King City sometime around mid-December. Several people told police they’d seen her body, but by the time police got there, it was gone. However, they found enough evidence at the scene to show a crime happened.
Lopez was also wanted for violating her probation (for writing bad checks), but police don’t think that’s why she disappeared. They’re investigating her disappearance as a likely murder.
