Clothing/Jewelry Description A black leather jacket, a red sweater, blue jeans, brown cowboy boots, a gold-colored ring set with a pearl, a gold-colored ring set with two pearls, an antique wedding band with a rose-set top, and a custom-made fish necklace, The necklace was a gold chain with a small sterling silver pendant in the shape of a salmon, with a diamond setting for the eye. She may have been carrying a black zippered purse and a small floral-print makeup bag.

Details of Disappearance:

Altiery disappeared in Anchorage, Alaska on December 2, 1981. She was last seen getting into a cab near Boniface Mall at 11:00 p.m. Altiery was an exotic dancer and was going to meet a man for a photo shoot. She’s never been seen or heard from since.

Police think serial killer Robert Hansen might be responsible for her disappearance. Hansen confessed to 17 murders and 30 rapes in 1984. He showed police where he buried some of his victims, but only 12 bodies were found. A map in his house showed more locations than the 17 murders he admitted to, suggesting he killed more women. Many of his victims were sex workers, like Altiery.

Adding to the suspicion, some of Altiery’s things, including a special fish necklace, were found in Hansen’s home. Hansen died in prison in 2014, serving a very long sentence. A picture of him is included.

Because of all this, police believe Altiery was likely murdered.
