- On September 30, 1977, Maloney disappeared near Ketchum, Idaho. His blue 1971 Volkswagen was later found abandoned. Search dogs followed his trail into the mountains, but lost it. Despite a big search, he was never found. Sadly, his police file was destroyed in a fire, making it even harder to solve the mystery of what happened to him. His disappearance remains a cold case.
