- Details of Disappearance:
- Angela Allen vanished on December 26, 1979, in Syracuse, New York. She was last seen around 2:10 PM near South Salina Street. That morning, she spoke briefly to her mother on the phone, sounding normal but saying she was too tired to chat. She never contacted anyone again.
Police don’t think she ran away; she left behind her last paycheck. Her husband, Hubert “Mad Dog” Allen, tried to cash it after she disappeared, and he’s the main suspect in her disappearance. Investigators believe he murdered her and hid her body, possibly in the Onondaga Indian Nation territory or the Allied Chemical salt pits – places he and Angela used to visit.
In 1985, Hubert was convicted of killing his girlfriend, Lorraine Marshall, and their six-year-old son. He was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. Marshall had been dating Hubert at the time Angela disappeared. She initially refused to talk to police about Angela, but eventually revealed that Hubert had confessed to accidentally killing Angela and asking for help hiding the body – though later claiming it was a joke. She also noticed mud on his boots after Angela vanished. Police believe he killed Marshall and her son because she cooperated with their investigation.
Hubert maintains Angela left him and took $11,000, but he has never been charged with Angela’s disappearance. Angela worked at J.C. Penney. Her mother tried to have her declared legally dead in 1990, but she was only declared legally missing. Her estate, including a life insurance policy, went to her two daughters.
