Details of Disappearance:
On July 2, 1966, three friends – Miller, Blough, and Bruhl – went to Indiana Dunes State Park. They left Illinois around 8:00 am in Miller’s car. Around noon, a couple saw them leave their belongings on the beach and go into Lake Michigan. Shortly after, the couple saw the women talking to a man in a small white boat. The witnesses said the women got on the boat and it headed west. The women were never seen again.

Their belongings were found on the beach. The police found Miller’s car still parked where she’d left it. A search began, and more witnesses reported seeing the women on a boat with a man. Home movie footage helped narrow down the search to two boats: a small one where the women were seen, and a larger one where they might have been transferred to later. There were conflicting witness accounts of what happened after that.

The investigation looked into the women’s lives. They were all involved with horses, and there were some hints of possible criminal connections in the horse racing world. There were also personal issues; one woman had a possible marital problem, and two of them may have been pregnant. One theory is that they went with a man resembling the boat driver to get illegal abortions. This is just one unproven theory, among many others.

Despite many leads and investigations, the women’s disappearance remains a mystery. The boats, the man, and even other possible clues haven’t been solved, leaving the mystery of what happened to Miller, Blough, and Bruhl unsolved.
