- Distinguishing Characteristics:
- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Annabelle may use the last names Rankin and/or Smith together with the name Ludwig, or separately. She has a mole or beauty mark above her lip and fatty tissue buildup on her upper thigh. Annabelle fractured her wrist as a child and the injury did not heal properly; the bone protruded from her wrist under the skin.
- Details of Disappearance:
- Annabelle disappeared from her home in Cridersville, Ohio on June 15, 1982. She was living with her ex-husband, Robert, and some of her children. Annabelle and Robert had a difficult marriage with cheating and breakups. Even after their divorce in 1977, they kept getting back together. She had other relationships and struggled with substance abuse.
Just before she vanished, Annabelle said she wanted to go to Florida to see a boyfriend who had moved there. She disappeared without a trace. While she sometimes left home for short periods without telling anyone, this was unlike her. Her ex-husband didn’t report her missing until months later.
There are rumors that she was murdered and buried near Jenera, Ohio, or in Cridersville, but there’s no proof. Annabelle didn’t have a job or a driver’s license at the time. Her parents are deceased, but other family members are still looking for her. No one knows for sure what happened to her.
