- Details of Disappearance:
- On January 19, 2001, two friends, Green and Rahim Martin, went to a bank in Newark, New Jersey to cash a check for over $8,000 from a lawsuit. Security footage shows Green acting nervous. Martin also had a second, uncashed check for $4,000.
After leaving the bank, they went to a nearby building where Martin used to work. He briefly called his uncle who worked there, but they left without seeing him. They vanished without a trace.
Neither man had a driver’s license, so they always relied on others for rides. Their disappearances were very unusual, as both were close to their families and wouldn’t leave without telling anyone. Green’s credit card hasn’t been used since, and he left his phone behind. Green had a minor criminal record from his youth, but Martin had no criminal history.
Because they had a lot of cash, police think they were robbed and killed. A man’s body was found burned in a house the day after they disappeared. In 2010, this man was identified as Martin. Green is still missing, and police believe he was also a victim of foul play.
