Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Bogart has a brown birthmark with dark spots on his lower back near his waistline and a scar on his left forearm, about one to two inches long. He has a chipped front tooth.

Details of Disappearance:

In February 1988, Mark Bogart from Ohio went to California with a friend. They planned to get two cars and drive back to Ohio. Bogart called his dad from California, saying he wasn’t having a good time and they were heading home early. The last his dad heard, Bogart was in Needles, California, with a broken-down Mercury Capri.

A few days later, the friend called, saying Bogart was missing. He claimed they’d fixed the car, but then got separated. The friend said he last saw Bogart on Interstate 25 between Santa Fe and Pecos, New Mexico.

Bogart’s dad said his son had been using methamphetamine, and he thinks they had drugs with them. The friend, six years older, had a minor drug charge in California and needed someone to drive a car back to Ohio. Bogart’s dad didn’t trust the friend’s story, as he gave different accounts of what happened.

Some say Bogart was last seen in Needles; others say it was in New Mexico. Santa Fe police are investigating, and they think something bad happened to him.
