- Mary Cunningham vanished from her home in Merritt Island, Florida on October 18, 1992. She was moving to Ocala to live near her sister and had just made what she said would be her final trip back to Merritt Island to pack up her belongings.
The day after she arrived in Ocala, she spoke to her sister twice on the phone, and everything seemed normal. Then, she disappeared.
Her car was still in her driveway, and her house showed no signs of a break-in or struggle. Everything was tidy – her things were packed, her bedsheets were clean and folded, and her medicine was where it belonged.
Police don’t know what happened. She might have been abducted, or she may have gotten lost or confused. Cunningham was a widow, close to her sister, and it was very unlike her to disappear without a word. The case remains a mystery.
