Details of Disappearance:
On December 2, 2011, in Detroit, Michigan, Bianca Lane’s father, D’Andre Lane, reported that his car was carjacked with Bianca still inside. He claimed a man in a red car tricked him into stopping, and another man stole his car at gunpoint. Police found the car abandoned nearby, but Bianca was gone.

Despite an extensive search, Bianca was never found. While the carjacking was initially the focus, investigators became suspicious of D’Andre. He didn’t call 911 directly; he called a friend who then called emergency services. A polygraph test he took failed.

Police searched his home multiple times, and a cadaver dog detected the scent of human remains in his bedroom, car, and on Bianca’s belongings.

The investigation revealed that the night before, D’Andre had severely beaten Bianca after she wet the bed. His girlfriend and nephew both witnessed the abuse. D’Andre admitted to hitting Bianca with a paddle but claimed he didn’t hurt her badly. He also said she fell out of bed and hit her head. The next morning, Bianca seemed unwell, and he said he tried to keep her awake.

Bianca’s older sister reported that Bianca was unusually quiet during the car ride to school that morning.

D’Andre Lane was charged with first-degree felony murder and child abuse. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole, though he continues to claim his innocence. Bianca’s body has never been found. The circumstances strongly suggest that the carjacking was staged, and Bianca’s death was the result of her father’s abuse.
