- On July 6, 2000, a woman named Hughes disappeared in South Carolina. She was last seen near a pay phone in Pelzer after getting a ride from Williamston. She lived with her blind and disabled mother and always kept in close contact. Her mother wasn’t worried at first, thinking Hughes was at the beach with friends. But when the friends came back without her, the mother knew something was wrong. Hughes left behind all her belongings. Police think her disappearance is suspicious, but the case remains unsolved.
