- Details of Disappearance:
- On November 10, 1995, 13-year-old Bradley disappeared from Phoenix, Arizona. It was Veteran’s Day, and school was canceled, but Bradley didn’t tell his mom. He went to a friend’s house, Jeremy Bach’s, to play.
When Bradley didn’t come home, his mom called him, but he didn’t answer. Police initially thought he ran away.
Two months later, blood was found in Bach’s trash can and kitchen. Bach then confessed to shooting Bradley accidentally while playing with a gun. He said he panicked and put Bradley’s body in the trash. The trash was taken to a landfill, and a huge, expensive search turned up nothing.
Police didn’t believe Bach’s story, suspecting the shooting happened during a fight over a girl. Bach admitted Bradley died a slow, painful death, and he didn’t call for help.
Bach, one of the youngest people ever tried as an adult in Arizona, was convicted of murder in 1998 and served 22 years in prison. He was released in 2018. Bradley’s body was never found. Bradley’s parents sued Bach’s stepfather, whose gun was used in the crime, for improper gun storage and possibly helping to hide the body. That case was settled out of court.
