Details of Disappearance:
On December 20, 2002, 17-year-old Brian disappeared after leaving his job at Val’s Foods in Johnsburg, Illinois. He’d gone to work as usual, but nobody saw him leave.

The next day, his parents reported him missing. A disturbing discovery was made: a large pool of Brian’s blood was found in the store’s cooler. More blood was found elsewhere in the store.

Brian seemed happy the day he vanished; he’d cashed his paycheck and bought pizza. His disappearance was completely out of character. He had saved a significant amount of money, making a sudden departure unlikely.

Years later, Brian’s supervisor, Mario Casciaro, was charged with perjury for lying about his knowledge of Brian’s death. Another Val’s Foods employee was also briefly charged but the case was dropped.

Eventually, Casciaro was charged with murder. A key witness, Shane Lamb, testified that he and Casciaro were involved in a drug deal gone wrong with Brian. Lamb admitted to hitting Brian, but claimed he didn’t realize Brian was dead until later. Casciaro allegedly helped dispose of the body.

Casciaro’s first trial ended in a hung jury. Before the retrial, a potential witness died. Casciaro was then convicted, but the conviction was later overturned due to insufficient evidence and concerns about the deal made with Lamb (who received immunity from prosecution). Casciaro was released from prison.

The case remains unresolved, with Brian’s family firmly believing he was murdered. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance strongly suggest foul play.
