- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Helmuth had a full beard and mustache at the time of his 1999 disappearance. He wears eyeglasses and he has a two-by-three-inch V-shaped scar on the back of his hand.
- Details of Disappearance:
- Helmuth worked at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The last time anyone saw him was June 14, 1999, on campus. Police think he flew to Seattle that same day, and the next day he was seen getting on a ferry in Bremerton. He disappeared after that and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Police think he might have died by suicide, but because his body was never found, he’s still officially listed as a missing person.
