- Caleigh disappeared from a Rockport, Massachusetts beach on April 19, 2012. She was playing with her sister when their ball rolled over a wall. Their mom went to get it, and when she returned, Caleigh was gone.
Child protective services investigated the mom for neglecting the children by leaving them near the water, but no charges were filed. The parents were divorcing and shared custody. The dad didn’t believe the mom was a bad parent, while the mom said she was only gone briefly.
Months later, some pants similar to Caleigh’s were found on a nearby beach. While they were the right size, it couldn’t be confirmed they were hers. Police searched but found nothing else.
They believe Caleigh likely fell into the water and drowned, although her body was never found. Caleigh’s sister mentioned seeing a strange man, leading her parents to initially suspect an abduction, but the father now thinks she drowned. The mystery of what happened to Caleigh remains unsolved.
