Details of Disappearance:
Candice Shields disappeared from her grandparents’ house in Graham, Texas on December 10, 2011. She was last seen at 9:30 pm. Her Facebook was accessed later that night, and a call was made from her phone at 2:30 am, but then she vanished. She left behind all her belongings – phone, wallet, purse, etc. – including a one-year-old child. She had no car and no known way to get around, and was about to start a new job.

Even though the back door was unlocked, there were no signs of a break-in, and nothing seemed amiss to neighbors. Her family reported her missing on December 15th.

Two people, Jeremy Thornburg (father of Shields’ unborn child) and Lajuana Long, were arrested for her murder in February 2013. Thornburg and Long had both dated Shields, and Long had threatened her. Long admitted to helping Thornburg kill Shields and dispose of the body using bleach. Police found a gun with Shields’ blood on it, believed to be the murder weapon. Long got a 30-year sentence in exchange for her testimony against Thornburg, who was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Candice Shields’ body has never been found.
