Details of Disappearance:
Carol Batterman vanished on May 31, 1958, in Oklahoma City. She was 18, newly married, and waiting for a bus outside her motel. She was going to meet her husband at a nearby naval base to look at apartments in Norman together.

She never arrived. She left all her belongings – clothes, jewelry, and even $100 in cash – at the motel.

A witness saw Carol talking to a man in a gray pickup truck just before she disappeared. The man was around 40, tall and thin, wearing khaki clothes and a big straw hat. The witness looked away for a second, and when he looked back, both Carol and the truck were gone. It’s not clear if the man was involved.

Police think Carol was abducted, and her husband wasn’t suspected. He told a newspaper years later that he still hoped she would return. The mystery of what happened to Carol remains unsolved.
