- Carolyn and her young son, Mark, vanished on August 31, 1981. They were planning a trip to Texas to live with Carolyn’s fiancé, Harry Kirezian (Mark’s father).
Carolyn’s family helped her pack, and she said goodbye to her mother that evening. She changed her travel plans, going alone, not with her twin brother as initially planned.
The last person to see them was Kirezian. He claimed Carolyn changed her mind about Texas, and he dropped her and Mark off near Toledo, Ohio, giving her $4,000. He said he then went to Texas, but returned to Michigan after car trouble.
This is suspicious because:
* Kirezian had little contact with Carolyn and Mark until a court ordered him to pay child support a few months before their disappearance. They then reconciled.
* After they disappeared, he changed his name twice and refused a lie detector test.
* Carolyn and Mark’s social security numbers haven’t been used since 1981.Police suspect foul play but have no proof Kirezian is responsible, despite him being the last person to see them. The case remains unsolved.
