In 1987, Cynthia Clampitt moved from Texas to Kansas to live with her brother and get help with her drug and alcohol problems. She left her son with her parents. She quickly got a job with a consulting firm, Equi II, owned by John Robinson. The job involved a lot of travel, which worried her brother. Then, in June 1987, Clampitt disappeared.

Years later, police discovered that Robinson was a serial killer. They found several women’s bodies in barrels. Robinson was the main suspect in Clampitt’s disappearance, and he was also connected to the disappearances of other women, including Lisa Stasi, whose daughter was illegally adopted by Robinson’s brother. Robinson was convicted of murder and given a life sentence. Clampitt’s body has never been found.
