Details of Disappearance:

Cecilia Gallegos disappeared from her San Antonio home on July 7th or 8th, 2019. Her husband, Reyes, reported her missing on July 8th, claiming they’d argued, she’d cut him with a knife, and left with another man. Reyes had injuries consistent with a struggle.

However, home security footage showed a different story. Cecilia arrived home on July 7th, went to bed, and wasn’t seen again. The security system was mysteriously turned off in the middle of the night and then turned back on by Reyes who made several trips from the house in his Tahoe, returning with shovels, a chainsaw, trash bags, and cleaning supplies. His shirt was wet. He then called 911.

Cecilia’s work security footage showed Reyes picking her up from work *four hours* early on July 7th. She seemed uncomfortable with him.

Police found Reyes’s story to be inconsistent with the evidence. He was arrested for filing a false police report. Further investigation, including an unrelated assault charge (later dismissed), eventually led to his arrest on suspicion of Cecilia’s murder in 2021. While Cecilia’s body hasn’t been found, police believe he’s responsible based on the circumstantial evidence.

Cecilia’s family and friends described Reyes as controlling and violent. Cecilia herself had expressed fears for her safety and was planning to leave him. The case is currently awaiting trial.
