- Details of Disappearance:
- Bryan Gay, a geologist from British Columbia, was last seen in Skagway, Alaska on September 26, 2000. He told people at his hostel he was going for a short hike to Upper Dewey Lake to look for rocks. He was expected back that night to catch a ferry, but he never returned.
He left all his things at the hostel. A search turned up nothing. A year later, a signature was found in a visitor’s book at a cabin near Upper Dewey Lake: “Great day, great hike, but this goddamn pen ran out of ink. Bryan G.” This was the last known trace of him. He didn’t have camping gear with him, so it’s believed he intended only a short trip. His disappearance remains a mystery.
