- On December 23, 1972, a retired cattle rancher named Bolter disappeared from his home in Waterford, California. He was never seen again.
Nine days earlier, three men robbed him of $30,000. They forced him to drive them around in his own truck for hours, making him withdraw and cash three $10,000 checks from his bank account. They then kept all the money.
Bolter’s truck was found abandoned along Highway 132, with the keys in the ignition. His family believes he was very upset by the robbery and may have taken his own life.
The case is still a mystery.
