Details of Disappearance:

On March 11, 1970, a woman named Rexroad vanished from Canton, Ohio. She lived with her four children and her boyfriend, “Red” Wyne, at the McKinley Hotel. Red was the father of her two youngest kids.

That day, Rexroad and Red went out, supposedly to the laundromat, leaving the kids with a babysitter. But they changed their plans, stopping for drinks at a couple of bars before ending up at Benny Petsy’s Hub Cafe.

Red later gave different stories to the police about what happened. Sometimes he said Rexroad left with another man. Other times, he said she left with a man and a woman, even though he tried to stop her. The last anyone saw her, she was walking east on Tuscarawas Avenue.

Red came home drunk that night, causing trouble and getting arrested for being intoxicated. The next morning, Rexroad’s 14-year-old daughter reported her missing, fearing Red had hurt her.

Red claimed Rexroad had just left him. He spoke to police twice but never helped with the investigation afterward. His children went into foster care; one went to live with an uncle, while the others were adopted.

In 1996, two of Rexroad’s daughters found Red, who was now in a wheelchair after a stroke. He couldn’t remember much about the night she disappeared. He died in 2008.

Rexroad’s children still believe Red was responsible for her disappearance, and the case remains a mystery.
