- Details of Disappearance:
- Dr. Pearson disappeared on January 5th, 2002. Friends last saw her around 1:00 AM after a Memphis Grizzlies game. She went home, spent time with friends, and seemed fine, despite feeling a bit dizzy at the game. She was supposed to babysit her niece and nephew later that day but never showed up.
A short, mysterious phone call came to her at 1:58 AM from an unknown person using a nearby phone booth. No one saw her leave her house.
Two days later, her car was found a couple of miles from her home. It was clean of fingerprints, but her medical bag, keys, and $140 were inside. Strangely, she left behind her insulin pump, cell phone, and pager at home – unusual for a doctor on call.
Her sister was named as the beneficiary of her $150,000 life insurance policy. Her sister’s husband had a criminal record and was out on bail for bank robbery at the time. Police investigated him, but he had an alibi. He was later convicted of the robbery.
Dr. Pearson was a successful pediatrician with no known enemies. Her family says she wouldn’t disappear willingly. The police suspect foul play, and her case remains unsolved. One possibility is she left home after that late-night phone call, intending to return quickly, but something stopped her. She was declared legally dead in 2009.
