- Christie disappeared on March 11, 1998, in Blue Island, Illinois. She was last seen around 4:30 p.m. and said she was going to church or a friend’s house, but she never arrived.
Christie had a difficult life. She had six children, and tragically lost two of them—one in a fire, and another to SIDS. She and her husband, Anthony, had a very bad relationship with drug and alcohol abuse, violence, and neglect. Christie had run-ins with the law, including arrests for shoplifting and drunk driving. She sometimes disappeared for short periods, but never this long. After their 1990 divorce, Anthony got custody of their remaining children. Another daughter died of cancer in 2006. Eleven years after Christie vanished, her daughter Stacy also disappeared. Police don’t think the disappearances are connected.
Christie’s family thinks she was murdered by her boyfriend, but he’s never been officially named a suspect. Her case got more attention after Stacy disappeared, but it remains unsolved.
