- Details of Disappearance:
- In early March 1996, Roof disappeared from her hometown of Everett, Washington. On March 2nd, she was turned away at the US-Canada border near Lynden, Washington.
Later, on March 24th, her silver and black 1986 Mazda was found abandoned near the border, just south of the Canadian line. However, a witness reported seeing a very upset woman who said her name was Roof on a Canadian road (Old Yale Road in British Columbia) that same day, several hours *after* the car was discovered. But by the time police got there, she was gone. No one ever saw her again, and despite searching, there’s no clue about what happened to her. It’s also not even certain that the woman seen in Canada was actually Roof.
At the time of her disappearance, Roof’s mother, who was her legal guardian, lived in Colorado.
