Details of Disappearance:
In August 1984, 7-year-old Clark Handa was kidnapped from his bedroom in Fairfield, California. Someone broke into the family’s home, and when Clark’s mother woke up, she found his window open and him gone. A ransom note demanded $25,000, but the kidnappers never appeared to collect it.

Years later, in 2016, Michael Fejarang, a friend of the family, was charged with Clark’s kidnapping and murder. Fejarang was already in prison for child molestation. He admitted to the murder but said he couldn’t remember where he buried Clark’s body.

Police believe Fejarang, along with a man and a woman (the woman is now deceased, and the man is missing), were high on drugs when they kidnapped Clark. Clark apparently recognized Fejarang. They took him to Vacaville, where they killed him.

The Handa family was not wealthy, making the kidnapping for ransom unusual. Because of the circumstances, foul play was suspected from the start, and the case highlights a tragic and unsolved aspect of the crime.
