Claudia and Eddy had a very abusive relationship. Police were called to their home nine times for domestic disputes. Claudia said Eddy physically, mentally, and sexually abused her, and even hired people to steal her phone and spy on her. She had gotten two restraining orders against him before she vanished, and was in the process of getting a divorce and a third restraining order.

The day after Claudia was last seen, messages were sent from her phone saying she was going to New York with another man. Eddy claimed he dropped her off at a McDonald’s to go dancing with friends, but phone records show neither he nor Claudia’s phone were near the McDonald’s that night. Both their phones ended up back at their apartment, but Claudia wasn’t on security cameras there. Eddy then quickly moved out of the apartment.

Police found Claudia’s blood in the rented SUV, and a cadaver dog detected the scent of human remains inside. Five years later, in April 2021, Eddy was arrested and charged with kidnapping resulting in death. He could face life in prison or the death penalty. Claudia’s body has never been found, but the evidence strongly suggests her husband is responsible for her disappearance and death.
